Zoo Camp is open to children six through ten years old. During these years children are gathering memories and developing attitudes that will influence the rest of their lives. The El Paso Zoo is the perfect environment in which to explore the wonders of nature. Through self-discovery and active involvement, campers experience the natural world while learning about the role they play in that world.
It is our goal that your child comes away from the Zoo Camp experience with a new understanding of nature and how the natural world works. We also hope that zoo campers will become as concerned with conservation as we are, helping us protect and preserve this beautiful planet for all life, including our own. Zoo Camp activities, whether they are games, crafts, or songs, illustrate environmental concepts and are chosen to help us achieve these goals.
If you need to cancel your camper’s reservation there will be an administration fee charged.
If you cancel with more than one week’s notice, the fee is $5.00
If you cancel within one week or less of the beginning of your session, the fee is 50% of session cost.
The week’s activities are oriented around a “theme” to facilitate learning; this year’s theme is Meerkat/Red River Hogs.
Campers will have the opportunity to learn about our animals through personal contact with the zoo’s “education animals” each week.
For the camper’s safety, direct contact with the zoo’s general animal collection is not possible.
Parents or guardians must sign their campers in each morning at the front gate. They will be asked the name of the individual who will be picking the camper up at noon. A picture I.D. must be presented when picking up any child. Campers will not be released to anyone other than the person listed for that day without confirmation from the parent or guardian.
